A small and very much belated race report on the recent



Clarinbridge 10KM!

I was disappointed to miss running in this twice postponed 10KM



race as I injured myself trying to keep up with Thomas Porter in



a track session the previous Wednesday night.  Such is life!

Amother fantastic turnout in what was a very overcast and foggy



morning for racing.  Dare I say it, but there seems to be an



almost insatiable appetite for road races in Galway at the moment,



if the first two months of the year are anything to go by, with



record turn-outs at all events alredy this year.

A goodly number of mid-packers from Athenry AC lined up and very



good times were recorded by people around my "go", which made me



doubly envious for missing the event, not that I would have been



worrying them in any way on the course, which incidentally came



in for almost universal praise.

The organisers did a quietly efficient job as I surveyed both the



start and finish areas for the duration.  We eventually retired



to enjoy a fine spread, where the winners were announced with



little delay.

Aoife Callan was third "WomenU45" in a fine early-season time of



43:23.  She has threatened me with pain of death, or similar, if



I publish any photographic evidence of this success though.  I



will desist on this occasion but cannot promise compliance



through what I predict will be a very successful season for the



lady.

Dave Dunne and Mark McDonagh had a good tussle, both recording



times very close to their respective PBs.  Amazing what a bit of



training will do!

Bosco and Michael will be delighted with the success of the event



and the money they raised for their nominated charity.
