The Allianz 5km Resolution Run which takes place on the 1st of January is a popular annual event. Numbers have grown since the inaugural race in 2010. This year 291 athletes ran the 5km route, starting at Nimmos Pier and finishing under the Spanish Arch after completing two 2.5km loops. The weather was perfect, dry with sunshine and blue skies! Spectators gathered along the route to cheers and encourage the athletes. Keith Fallon of GCH was the first person to cross the line, recording an impressive 16:06. Kathryn Casserly also representing Galway City Harriers was victorious for the second consecutive year clocking 18:50.
