Run over the original Fields 10KM course, starting and finishing at St. Mary's GAA club grounds at Carnaun, ~2.5 miles out of Athenry on the Turloughmore road!

From James Corbett, race organiser:

"Due to popular demand we decided to change the date of the club 10km handicap to this Friday, 23rd July @ 8pm .  This is a fantastic 10km race which many people have got a PB in over the years.  It is a 10km handicap race which means that people competing in the race are not allowed to wear watches or iPods or any other timing device.

You predict your time when you register for the race in St. Mary's beforehand and the person who run closest to it wins.  There are prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd AAC male and female, 1st guest male and female and the race winner.  There is a fantastic barbeque afterwards, organised by Derek Conerney and his family.

The cost of the race is only 5 Euro, which is fantastic value.  This is the 5th year of the race which has been very popular with Athenry AC & guest athletes over the years.  It is a great race for new members of the club to come and meet other members and if you can not run you can always come along and help out on the night.  We will have plenty jobs to go around!

If you are interested in taking part, please contact me at james_corbett_6@hotmail.com or 086-8342849 so that I can gauge participation."
