Jane Ann Healy travelled in style down to Waterford, flying down with Aer Arann for the National Half Marathon championships. Fly she did, as she finished in 1:28:35, at my count in 22nd place in the senior women's category and improving on her Longford time from a couple of weeks ago; showing great form in her preparation for this year's Dublin City Marathon.

Kieran Guiry represented the club colours well with a time of 1:44:22.

Martin Keane finished in 1:51:00; a superb improvement on his national half marathon attempts in the last two years. During the week, prior to racing, he commented:

"I'm going to Waterford running the risk again of finishing last but sure

someone has to do it. In 2008 I did 2:03 (cramp problem) 2009 1:58 and last

year 1:57 going the right direction you'd say but ???"

Numbers seemed to be up this year (perhaps with the easier accessibility of Waterford to Dublin and Cork), and indeed Martin was safely far from last, with over 150 runners behind him! Despite this he faced stiff competition , finishing with a strong place of 6th but with no medal this year in the M65 category.
