Athenry AC athletes had a successful outing at Day 1 of the Galway Juvenile Cross Country Championships for U10's to U18's. Pride of place goes to Shane Conway who captured the u16 Boys title. Also claiming gold medals on the day were the u16 girls team of Sorcha Murphy, Yvonne Keary, Niamh Grady, Helen Geraghty, Chloe Callanan and Deirdre Coffey.

Other medallists on the day included Lorna Hannon in the u12 girls, Marie Touhy in the U14 girls, Patrick Hannon in the u14 boys, and the u14 girls team, of Marie Touhy, Letitia Collins, Hannah Kindregan, Tara Murphy, Hayleigh Sommers and Laura Higgins.

Other Athenry athletes to shine include Grace Cahill, Eimear Keane, Niamh Keane, Rachel O'Brien, Vivienne Mannion, Shonnagh Burke, Zara Conway, Louise Brennan, Lorna Hannon, Emma Grady, Roisin Holland, Ailish Hynes, Dervilla Higgins, Keith Whyte, Dara Brennan, Blaine Burke and Killian Johnson.

Congratualions to all our young athletes who took part and did so well. Day 2 of the Co. Championships takes place at Dartfield Horse Museum, Loughrea on Sunday, 21st October.
