The Athenry cub championship 5km race will take place next Saturday on the 5km course near Newcastle. This is the same course upon which Athenry AC hosts it's leg of the 5km series each year.

Please come along and support this important club event. As is traditional each runner is provided with a handicap time that reflects their previous races times and so makes it an even contest between the speediest and the most recent recruit. The worst kept secret in the club is that the 'speedsters' rarely figure for the overall prizes. This is a friendly relaxed run, with the emphasis solidly on having the ccraic and getting to know your clubmates a little better (or avoiding them - whatever is appropriate).

Where: Community Hall, Newcastle, Athenry.

When: Saturday next the 18th September- Be there at 11:30am to race at 12:00 noon

How Much: Euro 5.00 - just to cover expenses.

There are three nice perpetual silver cups that have to be awarded each year - it could be you :-)

- Overall winner on handicap

- Masters winner

- Fastest runner on the day

There are also usually some spot prizes and the odd tactfully handled booby prize.

So, please make your best effort to come along and support your club championships.
