It hasn't escaped the attention of the people of Athenry that one of their own will be repesenting town, club and country in Beijing in a few short weeks. The juvenile section of Athenry AC have led the charge and put it long hours to put up some great signs, and to let everyone know that a couple of nights of setting the alarm clock to watch Paul Hession take on the best in the world are ahead.

A cracking run at the London Grand Prix on Saturdayt, where Paul ran a seasons best, and beat some top quality athletes to finish 3rd behing two genuine medal hopefuls mean that things are going well.

Sean Kindregan, from the juveille section of the club, has this to say.

I would like to thank a few people who helped erect signs and banners in support of Paul Hession, Michelle Collins who did the footwork and worked with Kevin Coyne on the layout and design of signs. The following people helped erect the banners Martin Hynes, Myles Murphy, Dermot McNamara, Tommie Quinn, Francis Tuohy, Frank Duane, Malachy Madden, Catherine Madden and Tom Page.

A lot of other people have followed our example and the town is awash with banners and flags in time for Paul’s brief visit home next week.

I would also like to take this opportunity to extend our best wishes to Paul from all at the juvenile club.

Go Paul!

Go Paul!
