Results of the Clifden 10K are attached.

The 3rd Clifden Lifeboat 10k race took place on Sunday 12th September, in almost perfect running conditions.  111 runners and walkers, of all ages and levels of fitness crossed the finish line (126 entered); and while many seasoned runners commented that it was the hardest race they ever ran, both the 1st man and woman managed to cross the line in record time. First man across the line was Martin Lyons of Mullingar in 35:25, while Clifden woman, Rachel Mannion, was the first woman across the line in 45:07.

The race is held in memory of 18 year old Mikey Mullen, who died when the MVF St Oliver sank, off the South Connemara Coast in September 2004, also taking the lives of the 3 other fishermen on board.

While it is fast becoming a popular event for local people, and has a number of regular seasoned runners who return every year, this year also saw a large number of participants from South Connemara and Mayo, with the overall winner being a member of Mullingar

The race has many categories, including teams of 3-4 people, and this years winning team consisted of Sean Nee, who also was the 1st local man across the line and 7th overall, Alan Keogh and Pat O’Neill.

All funds raised from the race go to the Clifden Lifeboat and organisers would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped, participated, sponsored, gave a prize or came out to support the participants, and helped make it a success.
