The first leg of the Galway 5km series 2011 takes place this Tuesday, 1st of May at Newcastle, Athenry. You must have already registered online through RunIreland.com to run, that is, no entries will be taken on the night.

Collect your chip and number on Tuesday before the race, and keep them for all 6 races. See link 5km Race to map of the course and directions there. (Allow time for it to load: the I character on the map pinpoints the Information centre in Newcastle Community Hall where you can pick up your race pack).

The race starts at 7:45 sharp, so please arrive in plenty of time to collect your race pack. We'll be there from 6:30. Allow 5 to 10 mins to jog down to the starting line.

PARKING: Parking is very limited in Newcastle, and indeed at most of the race venues. Car pool with friends and clubmates if possible.

Your chip should be looped through your laces as per the instructions in your race pack.

Yes, you can collect your race pack at the next race, Claregalway.

The race starts at the Business Park on the N18. This is before the school which is close to the N18 junction with the main Tuam road that goes through Claregalway, the N17.

If you go through Carnmore Cross (near the airport), going north on the N18, you'll pass Horkan's garden centre on the right. It's about 3/4 of a mile past that.
