Despite the weather at the weekend it didn't dampen the spirits of those who turned out in such large numbers for the second running of the Cong 8km (in aid of Cancer Care West) on Sunday morning.  The rain had just held off at the start of the event with the sun looking to break through by the time the first finisher came home.

A total of 285 runners registered for the event with 260 participants on the day.

The first woman home was Ann Lennon in a winning time of 32.31 and following in a close second was Angela O'Connor (Mayo AC) 32.33 and Ann Munnaly (Mayo AC) taking 3rd in a time of 35.07.
