The first race in the first ever Roscommon 5k Series kicked off bang on time in Roscommon town last Wednesday night, and Athenry's Conor Dolan took full advantage of this new fixture to put in a barnstorming run. Conor finished 2nd in 16.39 behind none other than suprise entrant Shane Healy, a former Irish Olympian over 1500m. Well done Conor. First lady home was Dalia Benedetti in 21:55 followed by Sandra Martin in 22:13.

Congrats to everyone who took part – all 103 and of you. We hope you enjoyed the experience and that you’ll be back again. We were delighted with the turnout and based on feedback from you we’re sure the event is set to grow.

Congrats also to all in Roscommon AC and the County Board who pulled out all the stops to ensure the event ran like clockwork. Top class organisation all round. Special thanks to the local Gardai who did a fantastic job, and to Hannon’s Hotel who were excellent hosts.

Next up in the series is Boyle next Wednesday September 7th. Start time is 7pm. Race HQ is The Royal Hotel. Entries will be accepted on the night. If you missed the first event but hope to do the remaining 3 races you will be able to enter the series for €25. Alternatively you can enter the Boyle event only for €10
