Gabriel and Josephine Gardiner (both Craughwell AC) hosted a fabulous event on Sunday, 17 April in Coole Park, just outside the historic town of Gort.

Nearly 500 people are recorded as finishing the event, around a universally praised course inside the national park in scorching late-Spring weather.

The race had to be delayed by nearly 25 minutes such was the power of people who wanted to register for this charity event, right up to the 11AM start that morning.

The people waiting at the start line were very patient and in great form as the weather was so warm and balmy, even that early in the morning.  By the time the race finished, in the enclosed garden close-by the world-famous tree with all the literary autographs etched into it, temperatures had risen even further.

The Ardrahan Defibrillator Committee are very grateful for the money raised from the event.

I even noticed a hoodie worn by an executive member of a newly (re-)formed Athletic Club in the area, namely South Galway AC.  I look forward to hearing and seeing more from them in due course.
