Athenry AC star Paul Hession has a big week ahead. On Wednesday he heads to Stavanger in Norway to take part in the Exxon Mobil Stavanger Games and then next Friday he moves on to Oslo to take part in their world famous Golden League meeting, the Bislett Games.

With his brand new national record in the 100m tucked away from his recent outing in Greece his confidence must be high going into this week’s races.

The best of luck Paul!

"Hession's time of 10.28 is the eighth-fastest in Europe so far this year, and given he's just 24 it's likely he'll run a lot quicker - particularly as he's really a 200-metre specialist. Incidentally, his 10.28 equates to a hand-timed 10.20, which is what Jesse Owens ran in 1936 and stood as the world record for 20 years."
