It is the same course as last year's race that proved such a big hit with the athletes. There will be absolutely no entries taken on the night! In the interests of safety a no-headphones policy will be implemented. The race starts at 8.00pm sharp. You are advised to arrive in Loughrea at 7.15pm to allow for parking, warm up etc. Loughrea AC would greatly appreciate anyone who can volunteer to help out.

"The most scenic race in Britain " (Runnersworld magazine Feb 06) The race achieved a 95% approval rating from the readers of Runnersworld in 2007 and was rated "8th Best Race in the UK in 2007".

3rd Annual Dermot Power Memorial and Kildysart Cultural festival 4 Mile Road Race in Kildysart Co Clare Kildysart Cultural Festival and the 3rd Annual Dermot Power Memorial 4mile open road race and 4 mile fun walk organised by Kilmurry Ibrickane/ North Clare Athletic Club will take place around the streets of Kildysart, Co. Clare on Friday 1st August 2008 starting at 7. 00pm with the walk and the road race at 7 . 30pm.

Special 5k Road Race in Ballinamore A special 5K Road race will be held in Ballinamore on Friday, August 1st, at 8 pm as part of the local community celebrations that evening to mark the selection of Colin Griffin to take part in the 50k walk in the Olympic Games. The Race will be open to all over 14 years, with a particular welcome for joggers and walkers. It will also be part of the Ballinamore AC participation in the AAI Fit4Life programme which is supported by the Irish Sports Council.

The IMRA Connaught Mountain running Championships are taking place on the August Bank Holiday weekend and will be based around the Delphi Adventure Centre. On August 2nd the formidable Croagh Patrick awaits. This race is also a counter for the Irish Championship and a win for legendary mountain runner John Lenihan will see him take the Irish Championship. The Second race is on Sunday is the grassier Ben Gorm starting from the Aisleigh Falls near Leenane.
