The penultimate race of the series brought us to Galway Airport in Carnmore. A new location this year so nobody really knew what to expect!

We assumed it would be flat and as it was open ground it would probably be windy. We were not disappointed! After the race someone described it as "it wasn't flat but it wasn't hilly! It presented a different challenge and some enjoyed the unique opportunity to run on a runway!

Approx 653 athletes completed last night's run with the usual strong turn out of 81 from Athenry AC. There was only seconds between the top three finishers. Following a win in Claregalway last week Damien Larkin from Craughwell AC was first to cross the line again this week in 17.08, a close second in 17.15 was Fergal Walsh and two seconds behind finishing in 17.17 was South Galway AC's Greg Lundon. Double victory for Craughwell AC as Shauna Bocquet took the honours for the ladies finishing in 18.18. Finishing second in Claregalway last week Grainne Ni Uallachain GCH achieved another second place in 18.34 and Barbara Dunne also GCH finishing in 18.42

Adam Leadbetter ran his fourth PB of the series clocking 17.34. Well done Adam! Aaron Turner's target time was sub 18 and finished very close with a PB of 18.06. Others who took part were Fiona Doughan 22.13, Maire Leader 22.32, Mary Rohan 22.30, Angela McManaman 23.04, Philip Magnier 23.14, Kevin Devane 24.01, Theresa Noone 24.54, Marguerite Wilkinson 25.07, Yvonne Dowling 25.23, Frank Noone 26.10, Caroline Mitchell 26.34, Marie Finn 27.08, Marian Donohue 28.15, Mary Connaughton 28.41, Teresa McGrath 30.36, Darina Keating 31.56 and Peter Elwood 39.05.

Congrats and well done to one and all.

Next Tuesday is the final race of the series for 2015. We return to Tuam, a course favoured by many and always a great evening's running.

Hope to see you there!
