Galway’s 2007 cross-country season got off to a great start this past Tuesday with the 2007 Galway Primary Schools Cross-Country Championships, which were held in ideal weather conditions in Renmore Park. Congratulations to all the children who participated.

This is the best attended and most competitive event on the Galway cross-country calendar and it is heartening to see such enthusiasm, natural ability and future potential on show. For many involved this was their very first experience of cross-country running and we hope it was an enjoyable one for all.

See the attached document for full results. Use the tabs at the bottom of the document to view results of each race. Remember, the top three teams and top twelve individuals, who are not members of the top three teams, all qualify to compete at the Connacht Primary Schools Championships to be held in Belleek, Ballina, Co. Mayo on Saturday, October 13th. Scroll down to the end of the individual results to see the full list of qualifiers.

Teachers and Parents - for those children who would like to get more involved in athletics remember that Galway’s juvenile athletic clubs always welcome new members. Also, the Galway Co. Juvenile Championships for clubs take place on October 7th in Tuam at 1pm and October 21st in Loughrea at 1pm. To compete you must be a registered member of an athletic club, so be sure to contact your nearest athletic club in advance.
