Irish Olympian Rosemary Ryan from Bilboa AC has just been on to let us know the arrangements for this year's Ger Mullane Memorial Bilboa AC 10k Road Race. The race will take place on the evening of Friday June 19th with a 7:30pm start for walkers and an 8:00pm (sharp) start for runners. €10 fee runners, €5 walk.

Athenry runners have attended this race now for many years and if you ask anyone of them they'll tell you it's a little gem of a race. If you, like me, appreciate the charms of a race on a summer's evening along quiet, well stewarded, country roads then this could be one for you. Bilboa AC have some great facilities including a large grass area that's absolutely perfect for warming up and down and the free refreshments afterwards are always tasty and plentyful.

One Athenry runner has particularly fond memories of this race, that person being Paul McNamara who claimed the National 10k Title on this very course.

This year the Bilboa committee have wisely avoided a clash with the Clare People 10k which takes place on Saturday June the 27th and although the Annaghdown 10k is on the same weekend (Sunday the 21st June) you could easily take in both races.

It's one I couldn't recommend highly enough.
