Grassy routes can be difficult to find in Galway and very few people can maintain some level of sanity while constantly circling a football pitch. Most people are aware of the fine facilities at the NUIG Grounds in Dangan, but a less well known facility exists on the other side of the city.

This 2 mile loop (2.0761 miles for the numerically obsessed) takes in four football fields. There's not a hill in sight so you can take that as a positive or a negative depending upon your outlook. One downside is that you must cross the Michael Collins Road to move from field to field and complete the loop.

Possible starting points include Meadow Grove or Heather Grove in Ballybaan; at the park entrance on the Michael Collins Road; from the GMIT Art College off Wellpark Road; or from Days Hotel on the Dublin Road.
