Athenry based Predator Triathlon Club will be hosting the first ever Loughrea Triathlon Festival on Saturday and Sunday the 22nd and 23rd of September next. This is a huge undertaking for a recently established club and a considerable logistical challenge. Preparations have been in full swing for quite a while and all seems to be set fair for a great weekend of sport on land and water. This triathlon festival is a major contribution to the sporting life of the County generally and that our sister club in Athenry is leading the charge is something we’re proud of. The majority, if not all, Predator members also hold Athenry AC membership.

In order to make the event a safe and enjoyable one for all those taking part, Predator are searching for volunteers to help out at the races. In order to be of assistance you don’t need to be available for the entire festival. If you have any time at all to spare at any stage of the weekend and want to lend a hand to make these races a success you’ll be welcomed with open arms. Remember, these events can only take place with the support of the sporting community and that support is particularly crucial in this the first year of the festival.

Full details of the event are available at www.loughreatriathlon.com and anyone who’d like to volunteer to help out can contact either myself, Mick Rice at (087) 2896989 or Maebh Burke at (087) 7648343. A full briefing, support and refreshments will be provided for all volunteers beforehand.

If you’re not taking part yourself, make this you good deed for September.
