A huge congratulations to Frank Burke, who successfully completed his first Ironman distance triathlon in Bolton, England on Sunday.

It's a challenging distance, with a 2.4 mile swim and 112 mile cycle, followed by a 26 mile run.

His results were as follows:

Swim 1:07 (nice)

Bike 6:28 (great bike on one of the toughest Ironman bike courses - very windy and hilly)

...followed by...

Run 3:21

Absolutely smashing run! This is just a couple of minutes off Frank's 2009 Dublin Marathon time - astonishing considering he'd been out on the course already for nearly eight hours at that stage.

Overall time 11:11:36 - super time for a first Ironman. Congratulations, Frank!

Frank I am delighted for you& now once you have a few weeks off I expect to see you at Tuesday sessions- sub 3 marathon will seem like a walk in the park for you in October. I wonder how long it will take for you to enter another ironman??!! Well done on a truly amazing achievement. Jane-Ann

I'll bet that Frank would prefer to do it again than write a report on this incredible performance!
