Mike Tobin of Craughwell AC has compiled an excellent record of Galway Juvenile Cross country Champions for the past 10 years. Lots of Athenry Athletes are featured and it makes very interesting reading! Great to see we have added some more Athenry entries to the record in 2013. Click on PDF below to view.
A number of Athenry juvenile athletes travelled to a wet and windy venue at Calry Sligo last weekend to compete in the Connacht Even Ages Cross Country Championship. All our athletes were representing Galway rather than their club as we did not have sufficient athletes to enter club teams. In the Connacht championship the first six finishers for Galway are awarded county medals if the county finishes in the top three, while the first ten finishers are normally asked to represent Galway in the cross country All Irelands held later in the year.
