Newcastle 5km runs like clockwork - Thank you!

As a race director, no matter how big or small an event, it's always pleasing to see everything go well on the night.

Credit where credit is due:

To all participants -
You were all there in good time, you shared cars, and it made parking noticeably easier.
You followed instructions to the letter, I didn't spot anybody with their number on their back or wearing headphones.
This make life really easy for those of us organising the races.

High Stakes Athletics at Athenry Community Games

There were frayed nerves and reputations on the line as the cream of the Athenry Saturday morning training group fought it out, tooth and nail, for bragging rights and Community Games medals. When the bodies were hauled from the field of play the news emerged that Alan Burke and Aileen McNamara had claimed the spoils of war.

Excepting a Truth and Reconcilliation Commission the rest of us are going to have to wait until next year to extract our revenge.

Mayo Road Race League Kicks Off in Ballyhaunis Next Monday

The way to Ballyhaunis...

Mayo AC's 2008 Road Race League, sponsored by C & C Cellular, begins its 10th consecutive year on Bank Holiday Monday next May 5th with the Ballyhaunis 8k. A record number of athletes participated in the various races last year, and included a welcome number of people new to running, testing their fitness and progress at races from 5k to 10k.

Marathon.

4. Where's your favourite place to train?

Wild guess - endless laps of Dangan.

Dublin Marathon.

6. What annoys you most at races?

Rain - can't see a thing through my glasses!

7. What race, that you haven't yet run, would you most like to take part in?

London marathon 2012!

8. What was your best-ever running performance?

Dublin 2007 - 2.49.
