Clean-up from 2009 5KM Series Race 1 - Athenry, Newcastle

Hard to know where to start but I'll try and keep things brief at the same time!

It was a great honour for myself and Athenry AC to have 375 out in Newcastle yesterday evening for the first race of the 4th year of this ever-successful Galway 5KM May Series. It was also the series' 16th race in the three years and we have yet to experience a drop of rain, unlike the night before and this evening! The Big Man/Woman continues to smile down on us...

London Screaming!

London Marathon Race Report by Ray O'Connor

Recovery after the Marathon Des Sables was great and I got straight back running just a day after returning. It was funny running without the backpack. I really felt like I was floating along and decided straight away that I should try for a good time in London just two and a half weeks later. I continued training for the week and then got a bit tired so I left it be. Someone suggested I was in a taper period as the MDS was a long training week but I wasn't so sure.

Boston, Boston, Boston!

Frank and Owen Pose With Ernst Van Dyk after winning boston for the 8th time

Race Report from Boston 2009 from Frank Burke

I have been to Boston a couple of times and must say I love the place -
the summer weather, the scenery, the sights and of course the people, who are the most friendly I have ever met. So when I entered for the marathon at Christmas
I couldn’t wait for the 20th of April to come around.

The walkers will have a water or snack stop at Cullaun House which has a beautiful setting on the shores of the lake. One steep hill as well in route towards Carggaunowen Ring Forte which may not be too favourable with cyclists

Biting for the Big Apple - Wexford Half Marathon Report

Report by Deirdre Hassett

As an engineer, the idea of applying scientific principles to running appeals to me. I’m inherently lazy, so anything that will allow me to go faster using less effort is good (note the compression socks which together with the new maroon club shorts raised a few eyebrows on recent outings). I’ve been running for a few years now, upping the distance only last year for my first attempt at a marathon.
