Clare 10k Provisional Results

A huge crowd of well over one thousand runners and walkers turned out for the Clare 10k in Ennis this morning with many of those taking part raising funds for one charity or another. There was a great atmosphere at the start area with organisers, fun-runners, walkers, fundraisers, and club runners all mixing in anticipation of the run ahead. Athenry AC was well represented by three athletes in Mick Rice, Jane-Ann Healy and Valerie Glavin.

Extraordinary Activities at T&F Galway Meetings

While we will always retain our love for the old boreens, the tarmac, and the concrete footpaths, strong documentary evidence is in that Athenry AC athletes now pursue another love. Shock, horror, drum roll, some individuals are competing in FIELD events.

At certain recent Co Galway Track & Field meetings, first-hand reports and photos show conclusive evidence of UFF (unidentified flying female) activity: soaring leaps over a horizontal bar ending in death-defying falls onto a foam receptacle.

Annaghdown 10KM Result - Provisional

Annaghdown Pier after the 10KM

Provisional Results from Sunday's 10KM in Annaghdown are below and attached.

If you weren't there, you missed a great event with Athenry AC being very well represented throughout the field. Brian Bruton was third senior man while Elaine Walsh was third senior woman. Miriam Wall picked up her second race prize in 24 hours in winning the W35 prize!

The day was very warm and sunny with a stiff little breeze buffeting the runners most of the way around the course.

Hession Captains Irish To Promotion

Paul Hession led by example over the weekend at the European Team Championships in Banksa Bystrica, Slovakia. Paul ran an excellent 20:56 to secure full points for the Irish team in his main event, the 200m. His co-captain Derval O'Rourke also produced some good form to win her 100m Hurdles race.
