Tough at the top?
Well I guess when you have a hard training session done, its nice to have a mid afternoon nap.

I think I got nearly everyone from Athenry AC who participated on the day. There are a lot of photos, but who am I to omit our friends from Craughwell and GCH?

Our warmest congratulations go to Claire McNamara who came out on top in the National Senior Indoor Combined Events competition in Nenagh on Saturday last. The Senior, Junior and Masters Combined Events titles were competed for on the same day and Rachel Finnegan from Craughwell made it a double for the 'Galway Girls' in taking the junior title.
Please find attached a PDF (1.51MB) of the race booklet which was available to all interested parties at the race yesterday for free.
James.

As usual the Athenry AC Juvenile section organised a fun run for those not yet old enough to take on the challenge of 10km on the roads around Athenry. This is always one of the most enjoyable parts of the day for organisers, spectators and, hopefully, the participants themselves.
Whilst this is not a competitive event the following is a list of finishers. Congratulations to all the children who took part and in particular to Alanna Lally who was first home.
Darren from www.racepix.com has been in touch to let us know that there are some pictures of yasterday's 10km race on that site. They're taken by Galway based Polish photographer Daniel Kowalczyk.
We hope to be able to provide many more photographs of the action, as taken by our usual loyal crew of snappers, as they become available, but Daniel's contribution is also most welcome.
You can view the photographs at:
GCH's Gary Thornton set a new course record in today's 8th Fields of Athenry 10km, in an exceptional time of 29:57. Donegal's and Finn Valley's Teresa McGloin took the ladies title ahead of last year's winner Catherine Conway, smashing the course record along the way too. A full report, results, photos and video to follow over the next few days. Thanks to all for participating. Weather permitting, we'll be back to normal on St. Stephen's day later this year!
