Ballindine 4 mile results

A fantastic day out for this unique race!

Michael Walsh of Craughwell AC picked up the first prize, being only two seconds out.  He proceeded to donate the entire prize back to the organisers.

James Lundon's tactic of waiting for an extra few seconds at the finish line paid off as he picked up a minor placing!

Seven Springs - New Cycling Club

After a gap of 15 years, Loughrea is to have its own cycling club, with the first registration of members to take place on Monday.

Seven Springs will be the title of the Loughrea-based club, but members are welcome from all over the East Galway area.

Thanks Loughrea !

Five down and just one more to go - Loughrea hosted the 5th of this year's Galway 5km series under clear blue evening skies last evening. There was another very strong turnout with almost 500 people taking part on the night. As one would expect from a club with such a long and illustrious tradition in the art of road race organisation, everything went like clockwork.

Athenry Runners At The Series

Who'd a thunk it? We're four weeks into the Galway 5km series now and there's been a lot of running done. Our long sequence of dry races is history, but the series has been more successful than ever before with larger numbers completing each race than in any other year. Although this series of races is designed to encourage participation above all else, there have been some high quality performances in the races so far and Athenry athletes have been right up there each Tuesday.

Well it was damp, there were some little hills but we got there. Another notch in the belt and another stride towards Dangan.Although the numbers were slightly down last night there was still a great crowd there who made light of the drizzly conditions. It's hard to put a damper on these Tuesday evenings.

Jolly Johnny Blitzes Bofin!

Not to be out-done by his multi-marathoning brother, young Johnny O'Connor, of this parish, was bombing around 'Bofin at the weekend and was first past the finish line in their annual  half marathon.

It's a welcome return to form for Mr.O'Connor who seems intent on proving that quality distance running, fatherhood and the odd sneaky smoke are not altogether mutually exclusive.
