This article is a slightly expanded version of that published in the 2007 Fields of Athenry 10k booklet.

Clarification 1: I did not include the 4M race out in Dunmore in August as it's closed to Dunmore natives or people living out there. Our own Brian O'Connor has had some success there, even though he only qualified through his mother, if my information is correct.

Clarification 2: I did not include a number of Athenry AC events that took part during the year due to their semi-closed nature too.

Request 1: Of the races listed below, I have been unable to establish whether a result or a finishers' list was published for the Aer Arann Half, the Inishbofin Half, the Inis "Iron" Meain 10KM, the CCA Children's Summer Camps 10KM or the Suileen races. Help?

Request 2: Would love to see similar lists from our neighbours in Mayo and Clare? Hint, hint...

Hi,

The Aer Arann Half Marathon took place last year in April,a couple of weeks after the Sonny Murphy in Kilnaboy.

It is organsed in conjunction with Temple Street Childrens Hospital and all runners raise money for a chosen charity.

This year it is for Cystic Fibrosis, the minimum amount to raise is €750 and only those who raise these funds take part in the walk or the run.

I ran for the first time last year and will be looking for funding again this year,an extremely worthy cause, places are limited but I got in last year on a standby listing.

Details are on Temple Street website.

If anyone feels like contributing let me know.

Regds,
Sean.
