A clean sweep for the club yesterday at the inaugural Eddie Murphy Memorial marathon in Sixmilebridge, Co. Clare, with Ruthann Sheehan winning the women's marathon and Mick Rice winning the men's, in excellent times of 3:32 and 2:51 respectively.

With a choice of three different events being run on the same course (double marathon, 30 miles and marathon), our ultra runners went short for this event and it paid off!

With perfect conditions for running, the marathon started at midday, with 26 laps of a one mile loop through the village. No getting lonely out there, then.

Well done to both on a fantastic race, only a few weeks after Dublin. Ruthann is training for the Marathon des Sables next spring, and can now be spotted running into work regularly with a backpack and ankle weights, so no taper for her....clearly the training is going well!
