This week's suggested weblink has been provided independently by two members, Alan Burke and James Lundon. For some runners this will be a familiar site to visit but for others it's a treasure just waiting to be uncovered. The McMillan Running Calculator is a masterpiece of extrapolation. From a recent race time over one distance it will suggest your potential to perform over other racing distances. In addition, the calculator will provide suggested training paces.

James Lundon said, "When I'm going well, I sometimes go in there and imagine what I could run a 'half' or 'full' based on my then fastest 8KM or 10KM time. Of course the delta is the months, nay years, of training necessary to stand the data generated by this calculator up in real life. Doesn't stop me from dreaming though..."

In suggesting McMillan Alan Burke wrote, "Basically I use it after just about every race. It's one thing to know you've just run a good [or bad !] 10km, you can compare it to other 10kms, but if you'd like to know how it would compare with an 8km or a marathon, then the McMallian calculator is for you. Even better than that, there are heaps of suggested paces for training, depending on what kind of workout you want. I haven't even gotten around to using that advice just yet!
