Athenry were well represented at the community games athletics county finals which were held in Ballindereen over the bank holiday weekend.

We had participants in near all events with over sixty children from Athenry competing who all be very proud of there performances.

Athenry won gold medals in the under 14 Shot Putt Hannah Kindregan, the under 16 100m Cathal Kelly and the under 16 Javelin Sinead Murphy. We won silver medals in the under 10 60m hurdles Eimear Keane, the under 12 Ball Throw Joey Quinn and the under 16 boys High Jump Niall Rooney. We won bronze medals in the under 16 girls High Jump Sorcha Murphy, the under 12 Ball Throw Rachel Rabbitte and the under 14 100m Cian Kelly.

The under 16 girls relay team won a silver medal, the team was Emer Finnerty, Laura Higgins, Sinead Murphy, Sorcha Murphy and Clara Burke.

The under 14 boys relay team won a bronze medal, the team was Darren Kelly, Simon Brody, Patrick Hannon and Cian Kelly.
