Silly medal rules
Savage course, pitiful turnout. I ran bad on saturday - probably went off too fast and was just very flat, felt like giving up at one point. There was a hill in this XC that had to be climbed to be believed, and the course was 8 laps. John O'Brien passed me with about 2K to go - I couldn't hang on to him and he beat me very well at the finish.
I was surprised when I got to the finishing chute and the lady pressed a bronze medal into my hand. John was ahead of me and got nothing for his troubles - because he was over-35!
I think this is a strange way of allocating medals - if they run senior and masters together could they not double up on the medals and give senior medals to the masters athletes if they finish ahead of them. It would have been different if the races were at different distances, but I think senior medals should be for the best runners.
I think a fairer result yesterday would have been:
