The event, now in its 3rd year, is organised as a fundraiser for the local RNLI Lifeboat Service. Starting and finishing in Roundstone Village in the heart of Connemara, the route takes in some spectacular scenery along the Atlantic coast and has been hugely popular with previous years participants.

The course has been measured using a Jones Counter, and the race has been permitted by AAI. On the day itself there will be chip-timing and refreshments afterwards for all entrants. There will also be entertainment and music in the village that evening for anyone who can stay on.

The prizes consist of unique pieces of handcrafted local ceramics, which have been commissioned specially for the Roundstone Bay 8K. Prizes will be awarded to Top 3 Male and Female Runners, as well as the 1st male & female in the over 40, over 50 and over 60 categories.
