Another rainy weekend in Galway, but there wasn't much fatigue just a week after the Streets of Galway with a good club showing at the annual Claregalway 10km .
Local GCH athlete Matt Bidwell once again took the honours in 32:58.
Another GCH member, Helen Corbett, took the women's race in 41:40.
First Athenry AC athlete home was Brian Bruton in 35:47. Mark Breen placed as second V40 male in a time of 0:37:18.
The club women had a strong show in the prizes with Sinéad Brody placing second in the senior category in a time of 43:25, closely followed by Deirdre Quinn (first V35) in 43:55 and Bernie Mulryan (second V35) in 45:41.
The ladies' great results paid off with them sweeping the women's team prize with a total of 209 points.
The Athenry AC men's team (Brian Bruton, Mark Breen, Darragh McShane, Raymond Somers) placed third in the men's team competition with a total of 64 points.
