Local photographer, runner and participant in the Galway 5km series Aonghas McMahon has emailed from sunny Mexico with the following greetings:

Hi Guys,

Greetings from Mexico.

Deserted bars and beaches, so cool.

I was gutted to miss the 5th race in the 5Km series so I decided to run it anyway.

I ran it on the hard sand on the beach in Tulum, Mexico at 8.00AM on Tuesday morning (temp. 31 degrees C). I ran 31 minutes and it was really really hard.
