The course is the same as last year - from the town centre out to the N17, and then a loop back to rejoin the outward section to finish in the main street. This race is always highly competitive among the serious athletes but there are a huge number of people out there who are just interested in doing the occasional race to help them improve their fitness or to compliment their involvement in other sports. After the first race of the 2008 league Mayo AC's John Byrne, Anto Devaney, and Timmie Glavey lead the points table for senior men. Martin Corcoran (Craughwell AC) and Paddy Murray (Mayo AC) are battling the 040 category again, while Ronnie Naylor and Billy Gallagher top the o50 section. The senior women's table is led by Regina Casey (GCH) fresh from her success in the Galway 5k series. Mayo AC's Mary Gleeson and Catherine Conway are currently 2nd and 3rd respectively. Ann Lennon (Mayo AC) and sister SiobhΓ‘n (Ennis Track) lead the o35 category while Bernie Kelly (GCH) leads the o45s.

Refreshments and prizegiving afterwards in race HQ.

Prizes will be:

first three senior men and women;

first two men o40 and o50;

first two women o35 and o45;

1st junior man,

1st junior woman.

All entrants will get a T-shirt.
