Athenry's Paul Hession made his exit from the World Athletics Championships this afternoon at the semi-final stage finishing sixth in his semi-final race. Paul had already fulfilled his stated ambition of making the semi-final of this event and so he must return home satisfied to some extent. Given the fantastic standard he has set on the track this spring and summer perhaps he may be slightly disappointed not to make the breakthrough into his first world championship final.

For those of us watching at home it's been a privilege to have a fellow cub member competing with such bravery and distinction on the world stage and we’re all immensely proud to count Paul amongst our number.

Congrat’s Paul…..Well run!
