19th May Update:

Ireland win gold in the cross country relay in the M55 category.

Our representatives in the European Vet's Non-Stadia Championships in Regensbeg, Germany got off to a great start yesterday in the 10Km road race.

In the Men's M45 division Mick Byrne of Wicklow came home first with in highly impressive time of 32:16.

The M55 division featured three of our Galway runners. The race was actually won by a Kerryman, Pat O'Shea, in a swift 35:12. Many congratulations to Pat. Not far behind in 11th place was Claregalway AC's Andy Talbot who clocked 37:30. Loughrea AC's TJ Beatty came home next of the Irish in 42:19 and Athenry AC's representative in this race Philip Magnier was 37th past the post in a highly commendable 46:51.

Congratulations to all four Irishmen on fine races.

In the M60 Category another medal for the Irish when Francis Reilly took the bronze in 37:15. This race featured another Athenry stalwart in the personage of Martin Keane. Martin ran a tremendous race and finished with 48:53 on the race clock, which represents a PB for Martin in this category.

In the women's W50 race another Irish medal was claimed by Carmel Parnell from Cork, running 37:48 in the process. That's some running Carmel.

Good luck to all the Irish runners for the remainder of the Championships.
