Club Captain Brian O'Connor today announced that the annual Club Championship race over 5km will be held on Saturday the 13th of October next at 11:00am. As the track in Dangan is not currently available the race will be held on the road for the first time ever and the venue will be in Newcastle, Athenry over the course that was used earlier in the year during the May Galway 5km Series. There are three beautiful silver cups to be competed for on the day: there is, of course, the overall championship trophy but there are also cups for the highest placed masters runner and for the fastest gross finishing time.

As in previous years the championship race will be organised on a handicap basis to hopefully give every club member a chance of winning the title of Club Champion for 2007-2008. So, all you have to do now is enter by sending your name to Brian at [email protected] along with a recent race time from which your handicap can be calculated.

With all the new faces around the club this is a great way to get to know all the other members you might not have yet met. As in other years guests will be welcome to take part although only club members are eligible to compete for the silverware.
