The Community Games Art and Model making county Finals take place this year on the 21st March in the new venue of Holy Rosary College Mountbellew. It will commence at 11 am sharp. It is indeed great to see both competitions back in the same venue as last year they had to be hosted in different venues due to the large number competing in the art competition. This New venue is well equipped to hold both competitions and we are very grateful to the college for its help in arranging this. We would remind all area secretaries that you can enter 3 people into each category of these competitions.

The Cross Country Competition which was a huge success last year is once more scheduled for the Palace Grounds Tuam on Sunday March 22nd at 1pm. This venue was very satisfactorary to the large number of entrants last year. This year we would like to remind you that there is NO LIMIT on the number of entries allowed from each area. However a reminder that all entries for all competitions must come through your area secretary.
Competitions in Cross country are as follows:
Under 12 Boys and Girls 600 M race
Under 13 Boys and Girls 1200 M race
Under 14 Boys and Girls 800 M race
The first 6 boys and girls in the under 12 and under 14 age groups and the first 5 boys and girls in the under 13 age group will go forward to represent their county in The National Finals in Athlone in May
The Talent Competition takes place in The Parish Hall Abbeyknockmoy on Friday the 27th March at 7.30 pm sharp. There are many aspects to the talent competition and Entries are not Restricted to any particular number. The following are the competitions for the Talent Night:
Solo Dance Modern and Disco
Solo Singing
Solo Recitation
Solo Music
Group Dance Modern and Disco
Group Dance Irish or contemporary
Group Singing
Group Drama or Comedy Sketch
Group Music
Groups are considered to be between 2 and 6 people. All competitions in the Talent listings are for both boys and girls and in the under 14 age category. All entrants must be over 8 and under 14 on the 31st of July of the current year.
All entries to all of the above competitions must come through the area secretaries and must be with the county Secretary on or before the 6th March 2009. NO ENTRIES WILL BE TAKEN AFTER THAT DATE
Galway Community Games are pleased to announce that they are in the process of setting up a youth branch in Galway. We will be hoping to make contact with all secondary schools over the coming year with a view to calling in and talking to all young people interested in Joining. Anyone with an interest should link into our Bebo website communitygamesg and leave a message. This is a relatively new site and is only now getting up and running. The youth organisation will hopefully take over this site and keep it up to date with modern ideas etc. We would also appeal to anyone between under the age of 30 to please link up with us. We hope to emulate the hugely succesful Limerick and Offaly youth organisations. This group will be a social group dedicated to having fun, a social outlet and also to helping the parent organisation at county events etc.
