A rejuvenated Paul McNamara had a big run last weekend at the Gerry Farnan cross-country races in the Phoenix Park, Dublin. There annual races are amongst the most prestigious cross-country races on the calendar and Paul was competing in the masters division for the first time. Paul finished in 12th place overall and was 2nd in the Over 35 category behind the legendary Seamus Power of Clare.  Paul was joined on the start line by another Athenry AC runner Seamie Gilhooley who just failed to make the top 100 home but put in a fine performance nevertheless.

There was a strong representation from other Galway clubs with Gerry Ryan and Peter O'Sullivan of Craughwell having particularly good runs along with Rob Staunton and Martin McEvilly of GCH.

Congratulations to Paul, Seamie and the rest of the Galway crew from the rest of us in Athenry.

Report and results.
