The Juvenile athletes travelled to Sligo on Saturday for the connachts. 45 children travelled in total at the above ages. The under 9 10 11 compete in pairs and all the under 12 events are individual. The under 12 girls took 1 gold medal 1 silver medal 2 bronze and relay gold. The day started with the Under 12 Girls 60m sprint taking part in this were Siobhan Mc Grath Erica Leslie Aisling Kenny Niamh Hannon

Alysha Woods Michaela Finnerty. The final say three of our athletes compete with Alysha Woods taking silver and Niamh Hannon bronze. In the 600m Lydia Doyle took bronze and she also got gold in the long jump jumping 3.80m which was fantastic as this is her first year doing the long jump. Siobhan Mc Grath got 4th in the shot put and qualified also for the all Irelands. Also competing in the long jump and 600metres was Rebecca Ruane. The Under 12 girls relay team then went on to take gold Alysha Woods Niamh Hannon Siobhan Mc Grath Lydia Doyle Rebecca Ruane and Michaela Finnerty. The Under twelve boys also performed very well Brandon Mc Menamin qualified for the all Irelands in July in the 60 metre sprint, Cathal Hynes got bronze in the shot putt. Also taking part on the day was Ryan Collins and Nathan Healey. The boys relay team Brandon Mc Menamin Nathan Healey Cathal Hynes Oisin Rowe and Aubrey O Brien got gold.

Next up were the under 9 10 11. At this age group we got 1 gold medal 3 silver medals two bronze and in the relays 1 gold and two silver. All of these compete in pairs and in all events were competing against 10 to 12 other pairs from all over Connacht. The under 9 girls Caitlin Mullen and Katelyn Mc Cullagh in the ball throw got gold. Saoirse Healey and Eimer Rowe got silver in the 300m and finished fifth in the 60m sprint. The relay team of Nadine Mc Menamin Eibhlin O Brien Eimear Rowe Saoirse Healey and Katelyn Mc Cullagh got silver. The under 9 boys in the 60m sprint Geordan Mangan and Darren O Brien were fourth just missing out on bronze by .01 of a second Ivan Power and Patrick Cronnolly finished fifth. Callum Holly and Luke Burke finished 5th in the long jump. The long distance 300 m again the boys were extremely close to the medals Geordan Mangan and Patrick Cronnolly fourth and Darren O Brien and Luke Burke finished sixth. The finale was the boys relay team taking the gold medal Darren O Brien Geordan Mangan Patrick Cronnolly and Ivan Power a fantastic performance.

The under 10 girls in the 60m sprint finished fourth Sinead Lyons and Ailbhe Keogh. In the long jump Sinead Lyons and Freya Bohan got silver with an outstanding performance from Sinead with a jump of 3.51m which was the longest jump of her age group. Ailbhe Keogh and Nessa Kelly also took part in the ball throw. The long distance 500m Danielle Collins and Danielle Woods finished fouth. The relay team finished in fourth and were very unlucky not to qualify for the all Irelands Sinead Lyons Freya Bohan Danielle Woods Ailbhe Keogh and Nessa Kelly.

The under 10 boys Ruairi Collins and Jamie Treacy finished 7th in the long distance. Cormac Hynes and Shea Hennessy got bronze in the long jump. In the ball throw Shea Hennessy Sean Byrne got fourth Harry Power Eoin Mc Guinness were fifth Cormac Hynes and Ruairi Collins also took part in the ball throw. The relay team of Ruairi Collins Cormac Hynes James Cummins Shea Hennessy and Jamie Treacey were fourth.

The under 11 girls Finola Kelly and Sarah Gilhooley finished in sixth place in the 60m sprint and again the girls were extremely unlucky in the long jump missing out on bronze by .04 of a metre. The relay team of Finola Kelly Sarah Gilhooley Caolifinn Hennessy Sinead Lyons finished in fifth position.

The under 11 boys in the 60 metre sprint Brandon Lee and Oisin Rowe got bronze and Fabian Mangan and Aubrey O Brien were fourth. The long jump team of Alan Cahill and Aubrey took gold with Aubrey jumping 3.73metres which was the best jump of all athletes competing. Brandon Lee and Dean Treacey got silver in the 600 metre long distance with both running fantastic times.. The relay team went on to take silver Brandon Lee Oisin Rowe Fabian Mangan Aubrey O Brien and Mark O Brien. Christian Mullen and Aidan O Brien finished sixth in the ball throw.

The next day out is the All Irelands on June 25 for all the under 9 10 11 who qualified. We wish them all the best off luck.
