Paul Hession is in action at the World Athletics Championships this week.

Paul is in heat 3 of the Men's 200m on Day 7, Friday, 02-Sep due to start at 03:26 (The first heat kicks off at 03:10) so set your alarm clocks. Paul is drawn in lane 2 and has avoided some of the big guns, although he is up against the quick Norwegian, Ndure and Darvis Patton of USA. First 3 in each heat through by rights, and then the 3 fastest non-qualifiers. Should Paul make it through to the next round, this is scheduled for a more civilised 11:55am.

Paul has had a tricky season, trying to peak late for these world championships. It all came together at the National Track and Field Championships where he secured another national title, and of equal importance, the Olympic and World Championship qualifying standards.

Usain Bolt will be seeking to add to his 2009 title, especially after disappointment in the 100m.

Hopefully Paul will be up there with him. Paul's roommate, Ciaran O Lionard, made it through his heat of the 1500m this morning, so the atmosphere within camp is good.

Best of Luck Paul!
