Record crowd at 10-year club run: Photos UPDATED

Published in Club News on 24th November 2012

Athenry AC celebrated 10 years of the senior section of the club by heading out onto the streets for its 9am training run with a record crowd of over 70 of its members.  The 9am run is an unbroken tradition, spanning back the entire 10 years.  Even when Saturday 9am has fallen on Christmas Day a group of runners has departed from the church to pound the streets of Athenry.

Although the conditions undefoot were somewhat slippy, and our heroic chairman even stopped to hand over his non-slip Yaktraks to some damsels in distress, this did not deter the crowd from completing a brisk 3 mile run.  Afterwards, buns and coffee were laid on by the Raheen Woods Hotel, and it was great to see so many of the runners stay around to warm up and refuel.

Another party took place at the Fields Bar Athenry that evening.
