Vincent Conway PRO Galway Community Games

Cross Country is one of the main events in the Mosney Calendar for the May weekend and with a massive increase in participation this year we are sure to be represented by many talented runners. In Tuam on Sunday 2nd of March 186 Children took part in this event. The Under 12 races had the biggest field, but Participation in all ages was well up. There was Fantastic excitement in Tuam as this event got under way and it was a tremendous achievement to get this started at the allotted time of 2pm on the dot. Within 1 hour of commencement this event was completed bar the presenting of medals to the winners, No mean feat when you look at the large numbers taking part. Co-ordinator Vincent Conway also County PRO put this down to the tremendous effort of Galway’s Athletic Clubs who aided in the running of this event. He praised all the Areas who turned out in big numbers and asked them to continue to encourage the many children in their areas to continue to compete in the many events being run by Community Games. The PRO said that it was a great compliment to the efforts of the County Committee in seeing numbers in County Galway on the rise. With this event completed Vincent commented on the strength of the teams as the many fine athletes who made it onto the County Teams lined up to receive their medals. He said he hoped that the county would continue to achieve much from its many competitors at National Level
