It’s not too often that you get the chance to race down Shop Street in Galway (Unless it’s Saturday night & you have a few pints on you) but the 5km Resolution Run gives you that chance. Taking place at the Spanish Arch at 1.00pm on New Year’s Day what better way to start off the New Year & kick-start those resolutions than this race.

Originally taking in a 2 lap course around Renmore, the new route (now in it’s second year) brings you around the Claddagh, up along the canals, around Nun’s Island, up through Shop Street (through the on-looking shoppers hitting the sales) to Eyre Square & finally back along the Docks to the Start / Finish Line at the Spanish Arch. It could nearly be classed as a shorter ‘Streets of Galway’.

Now only in it’s fourth year this race has developed a great following & they even had a couple of American honeymooners in wedding gear completing the race last year. The revised route was very well received with numbers sure to grow again this time round.

The race is chip timed by Redtagtiming & online registration is available here through RunIreland / ActiveGlobal.
