The presentation of surplus funds, that was generated by 2015 Galway 5k Road Races series which was held at 6 different venues throughout Galway last April and May, was handed over to the Galway County Board at their recent monthly meeting. As happened for the past number of years, the funds will be used for the promotion of athletics within Galway County.
At the meeting, a vote of sincere thanks was passed to Mick Rice (Athenry AC) who has worked as the co-ordinator for the 5k series every year since it started and who is stepping down from his position for next year’s event. Also thanks was given to Alan Burke (Athenry AC) for all his work during the past 10 years.
