The weather holds off as Mark Davis wins Headford 8km.

A crowd of over 160 included 26 Athenry AC athletes as the Headford organisers pulled out all the stops for another good evening.

On a beautiful Summers evening last Saturday, July 12th, the town of Headford hosted the 4th annual Headford 8k Charity Road Race. The race was a huge success with 163 competitors taking part on the day. A well organised event and challenging course helped make it a very enjoyable evening and it was smiles all round for those involved.

The race was won by Mark Davis from the Craughwell club in a time of 26:42. The winner of the Senior Ladies category was Regina Casey from Galway City Harriers in a time of 30:07. Full race results and photos of this years event can be found on the Headford community website www.headford.org.

Proceeds from the race will go to Rosedale school for children with physical and intellectual disabilities to provide special equipment for their playground.

Congrats to all involved - a great race, challenging circuit but enjoyable nonetheless. A definite for my running calendar!
