The town of Loughrea, a hotbed of athletics and in particular road running, will host their traditional five mile road race next Sunday at 02:00pm. This race is one of the classic occasions on the racing calendar in the West of Ireland and deserves the support of every one of us. Loughrea AC are celebrating their 40th Anniversary this year and have made every possible effort to make sure that this year's event is a special one. Full details of the race, the junior fun run and the seminar they'll host on the eve of the race can be found on their club website at http://www.athleticsloughrea.com/

Race entries are available onlinbe at www.RunIreland.com or on the day in Loughrea until 12:00 noon.

Great to see Loughrea on the Map again!

The Course is around the streets of the town which is very flat!

Great place to get a PB!

Should be a great day!

Best wishes to Loughrea AC.

See you there

The seminar is for runners of all standards.

Have your queries ready-----training methods, injury prevention, stretching, altitude training, mental preparation for a race, diet, running shoes, gym work for runners, over-training----or anything else you can think of!!!!!!

DON'T MISS IT!!

Does anyone know the course of the Loughrea race? Is it hilly or flat?

Start/Finish: New Loughrea Hotel and Spa on Galway road out of town. 2pm

Route: Down hill into the town, up the Main Street , turn right into Pigott Street, out to the lake, into the car park (2 mile mark) and out again and then back into town.

Down Barrack Street by the Cathedral and Temperance Hall. (3 miles)
Out the Gort Road, turn right into the Old Galway Road, back towards town, sharp left and back out to the Hotel.

The course is flat except for last 500m---road is rising as you approach the finish!!
