On a day when most people in Mayo & Galway were going to or watching the Connacht Football Final the inaugral Tooreen 8k Fun Run/Walk took place. Just under 20 runners and walkers made their way to the start line wondering would they get back to the clubhouse before the next downpour! Shortly after 2pm the run got underway on a looped course making their way back to the Tooreen Hurling Clubhouse with the first runner Andrew Lynskey finishing just under 30minutes. A lovely spread of tea, sandwiches and buns awaited the runners/walkers in the clubhouses where the first 3men and women finishers received their medals.
