Kinvara rocks the road

Published in Results on 4th March 2013

Now in their third year, the Kinvara Rock And Road Half Marathon and 10k have thrived as very successful event races. The 2013 versions stopped the traffic for a while in the beautiful village last Saturday 2nd of March to let through the 531 finishers in the Half, and the fairly astonishing 713 finishers in the 10k race.

There is currently serious demand for all kinds of footraces at this juncture in time in the West of Ireland; long may it continue.

Athenry AC as usual had its representation. Maria Lambe, below, ran a good 1:47:34 in the Half Marathon on a course that has more than its share of ups and downs along the unique Burren route.

This is possibly a pb (maybe Maria can confirm) but Kenneth O'Hara, below, smashed his pb set at the Dublin Marathon to register 1:35:16.

Well done to Marie Keary also who ran in the Half and finished in 1:48:07.

In the 10k race, congratulations to Sinead Foran who took second among the women with 41:08, not far behind Adrian FitzMaurice on 40:05, pictured below. Accompanying them in the 10k was Siobhan Guinan who broke the 50 minute mark on 49:12.

Noel Fox, below, was a pacer on the 50 minute mark.

Olive Liddane is pictured below in the last kilometer of the 10k.
